History

Celik Makas is established as a family company at Istanbul Beyoglu on 1975 by Mehmet Celik, whom entered profession on 1964, and with brothers.

Company which was manufacturing men’s shirts throught the first years of establishment, started manufacturing hoisery mercerised polo shirts and hoisery mercerised shirts on 1982. With this revolutionary step, first export to Europe was realized to Germany on 1986.

Celik Makas manufactures with latest technology knitting machines purchased from Japan using special yarns obtained by advanced technology imported from Italy and Egypt at current manufacturing facility from 1986 to nowadays.

Continues to export and preparing collections to international renowned trademarks in different countries in world, that leads the fashion, with R&D studies, perfectionist approach and revolutionary spirit.

Celik Makas realized the first branding experience at USA under name of “Vira Club”; and promoted collections, prepared in Istanbul, at metropol cities such as Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, Dallas.

Company deciding to transfer branding experience realized in USA, established Formenti trademark in 2004 with cooperation with Mario Formenti, one of the most important textile manufacturers. Opened own wholesale stores in Osmanbey and Laleli at 2005; and first retail stores in Russia at 2009, Ukraine at 2010.

Company which at the same time, manufactures for many local trademarks, opened first retail store in Turkey in Galleria at 2011 and thus started retail chain store set-up.

Right now, sales own collections under “Formenti” trademark at sales points over 300.
